About Dan MacWilliams

This summer I left Gainesville, FL for the river city of Jacksonville. In a few short weeks, I have been able to meet people, see new places, and otherwise explore the largest city in Florida.

Some of what I do

  • Website administration
  • Training others in technology
  • Consulting for technology needs of small and upcoming businesses
  • Database modeling and applications requirements gathering

so the deal is

I moved to Jacksonville, because I am serious about a fresh start somewhere. I chose Jacksonville because of the opportunity that presented itself. If the same opportunity happened anywhere else, I'd go there too.

you're an owl! you're a penguin!

Well this is interesting, apparently some people I know look at this site--that is people besides the ones I already show this to. That's amusing to me. Well hello. Let me know who you are, and maybe there will be more incentive to make some visible changes. ;)

thoughts about blockiness

I'm looking at a gigantic white box right now with a cap. The cap has a penguin. I looked at this earlier tonight and something came alive in my mind, a dormant area that looked at this box and found it unnecessary.

I traced my finger across the side of the page you are looking at now, and traced a tree trunk, and from this tree trunk, a branch that reached out and stretched upwards and outwards. It looked like a kid's book illustration, and it was gorgeous.

Oh wow, this is half baked

So I uploaded the alpha of my first full theme. It's an alpha because it's not even complete yet. I wanted to control the layout and colors first, and then go from there.

As you can see, everything in the white area is sloppy and the headers have underlines. (woops) But I'm getting there and I acknowledge that this isn't quite there yet.

wherever you go, there you are

I do love writing and posting things, but I hate how previously I've been writing on websites that claim ownership of my stuff. Someone told me that Facebook's terms of service still says they have rights to everything you put up. If this is true, I don't want the best that I do, where it doesn't involve the connections with people that I use Facebook for, to be on Facebook.

What is this?

This is something new. Stay tuned.
